Smart Cities
In recent decades, the rate of urbanization has increased enormously and over 80% of the world's population is expected to live in the city in the near future. As cities grow, the environmental, economic and social challenges they pose grow with them. An increasing number of pedestrians, tourists, inhabitants and foreigners generates new individual and collective needs and it is increasingly challenging to adapt the city's sites to diversified and variable uses, reduce pollution and contain energy consumption. One possible solution is the smart city, that is, the interconnection of modern digital technologies in the urban context. The introduction of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) in the city thus becomes an essential social need to create an infrastructure able to offer new opportunities to use public spaces and improve the quality of life of people.
One of the key elements of this transformation is the public lighting system that is uniformly distributed throughout the urban environment and is one of the most energy-consuming functions of a city. In an intelligent city, the lighting system is integrated with advanced sensors and communication channels to achieve a Smart Lighting System (SLS). Lighting bodies and sensors interact with an open and connected infrastructure to collect data about themselves, the environment, people and events. This data can be analyzed and shared via software platforms and mobile apps to reduce energy consumption, obtain a more efficient and autonomous lighting management system and offer users more services. The Smart Lighting System is based on intelligent technology, but also requires a systemic, site-specific and community-centered approach. For this reason we do not offer a standard product but we personalize our offer after a careful dialogue with the designer or institution that defines the intervention strategy and identifies the real urban needs. In order to create new modes of relationship between users and between users and space, it is important to analyze the urban environment of intervention, to discover the strengths and weaknesses, to understand the social dynamics, to safeguard the identity of the place and to enhance the tangible and intangible assets of the places. Xindeco is able to offer complete and reliable solutions for each project thanks to the collaboration with various companies that deal with the electronic and IT infrastructure.
